You’ll notice several noteworthy repeat audio associations and for a good reason.
Over the years, Chris has done some extensive work with certain artists, bands and
labels. These stand-out associations should be mentioned and noted here for
historical purposes.
In addition to his visual arts, comics, and printed text output, CHRIS YAMBAR has had an active hand in numerous audio and musical projects. Sometimes his participation has been limited to packaging, while at other times his involvement has extended to song writing, vocal treatment, instrumental performance, spoken word performance, and even the occasional role of producer.
Many of the earlier products from the 1980s and 1990s are very hard to find - even by the most aggressive audiophiles. Much of the product from these decades is out of print (OOP) and was produced by smaller progressive independent labels that sold largely to specific underground target audiences.
The AUDIO ZONE is set up to help the viewer gain a bird’s eye view of Yambar’s full recorded catalog. In order to do this efficiently, we’ve set everything up thematically. There’s a listing for singular projects as well as a few topical lists, all of which you can click on below. This is very similar to how we’ve designed things in our ‘Comics by the Year’ section. We’ve done our best to include even the most obscure find along with important details for each item. However, if you find something out there that we’ve missed, please don’t hesitate to bring it to our attention.
New audio offerings will be announced on our NEWS page as soon as they become available!
HOW CAN I BUY THIS STUFF?

TERRY McCABE and Chris have worked together since 1980 doing everything from street corner concerts to stand-up comedy and dramatic performances to recording sessions. During the 1980s, the two founded MANNA UNDERGROUND PRESS and published the celebrated international Christian arts paper THE ACTIVIST which had a readership in 13 countries at its peak. McCabe has also recorded under the name SPIKE and with the bands WONDER CHILD and PRIMAL BLINKK. He currently resides with his musical and artistic wife Diane in beautiful and sunny Arizona. You can visit their sites at www.mccabestunes.com www.myspace.com/terrydianemccabe
RADICALS FOR CHRIST: During the 1980s, Yambar’s ACTIVIST newspaper linked arms with a hardcore newsletter entitled “Radicals for Christ.” Their no-compromise message and straightedge, in-your-face approach appealed to Chris, as did the publication’s Godcore band, THE WARNING, who seemed to be stirring up quite a hornet’s nest in southern California. Yambar worked with The Warning from 1986 to 1989 when the two camps decided to part company and head on to other visions. Ahhh but what a showing they made! Today, CCM collectors are paying some good money for original copies of these products. Happy collecting!
CORPQII ARTS: Since the mid-1980s, Chris has enjoyed a rich collaborative relationship with electronic, industrial composer MARC PLAINGUET and his independent music label. In addition to co-parenting the ARTATAK STUDIOS and BANANA RODEO GALLERY collective, Yambar and Plainguet became legendary in various CCM circles for their cutting edge music and art jams, exhibitions, and razor sharp humorous and informative multi-media send-ups. Marc has recorded under several identities, including GRAVEYARD CAFÉ, MR. SKULL’S MAGICAL EYEBALL MYSTERY BAND, SKELETON SOUNDWORKS, and GADGET. In the eyes of some CCM historians, Plainguet is considered to be the father of modern religious industrial noise music. In 2006, Marc closed the doors of Corpqii Arts and is now working as a videographer and on his first movie project.
